Portfolio manager comments — Q3 2024
Fund performance was positive and the fund rose just over 5% in SEK during the quarter. The strongest contributors to returns were the Chinese internet companies Tencent and Alibaba, as well as the stock exchange operator Hong Kong Exchanges and the South African pharmacy chain Clicks. China announced relatively substantial monetary policy and fiscal stimulus at the end of September. The valuations of many Chinese equities, including the internet companies, have recently been depressed and rose sharply on the back of this news. Korean Samsung Electronics, Taiwanese Mediatek and Korean SK Hynix had the most negative impact on returns in the period. The markets in both Taiwan and Korea are weighted heavily in technology and have had experienced a slowdown due to weaker global sentiment within AI and technology-related exposure. During the quarter the fund sold its holding in Chinese Autohome and instead invested in the Chinese white goods company Midea.
